Detailed Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire National Park.
- At 0830hrs we will collect you from your hotel in Arusha after breakfast and following a 2 hour drive, you will arrive at the Tarangire National Park. In this region, Hemmingway often went on big game hunting safaris. After the formation of the national parks in 1970, they turned the seasonal marshes and the endless savannah that one sees today into, once again, profitable hunting grounds. Today however, cameras thankfully have replaced the elephant guns. The Tarangire National Park has the highest density of elephants in North Tanzania and you can view these animals all year round in which the herds often can reach an impressive number of 300 animals. The Tarangire River has water all year round and during the dry season, between July and October, many animals from the surrounding areas come to the river for drinking. If you visit the park during the dry season, you will witness an unforgettable natural wonder as you can observe wonderful creatures such as lions, giraffes, buffaloes, wildebeests and zebras as well as various types of antelopes and gazelles and with a little luck, you can also spot a python! This area is during the dry season also a haven for bird watchers with over 550 different species including the Masai Ostrich -the world largest bird. Around lunchtime, you will stop at a suitable picnic place before the afternoon is dedicated to more wildlife watching. Before sunset, you will be taken camp/ Lodge for overnight. Dinner, breakfast, lunch.

The Serengeti is probably the most famous wildlife sanctuary in the world. Within its 15,000sq km area it hosts 3 million large mammals. More than 35 species of plain animals- zebra, wildebeest, eland, giraffe, and others are found here. And so for the big five: elephant, lion, buffalo, leopard and rhino. The park is the staging zone for one the most spectacular events in the natural world- the annual migration of wildebeest. This commences around June when over 1 million wildebeest, zebra and gazelle head for the Maasai Mara in Kenya in search of pasture. They are followed closely by the predators of the savanna- lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena and vultures. The migration will stay there for two months, which is August and September. They will start crossing the Mara River again back to Serengeti on October and reach in the Southern part of Serengeti in the early February for CALVING. During your stay, your safari guide have a lot to tell about the migration, why calving takes place in Southern Serengeti on February. The Serengeti also has over 500 species of birds. You will have your breakfast at the camp, you and your guide will decide where to take picnic lunches with you for a day spent in the wilderness or return to the lodge for hot lunch. These two days in this best location in the wilderness where people witnesses the herds of animals roaming freely enjoying the green pasture. The herds of Wildebeest migration have chosen Ndutu and Southern Serengeti as their best place in the world for CALVING and feed their calves and giving them life experience including a lesson of migrating from one place to another, running and escaping from carnivores. The area grows healthier grasses which, gives energy to the mothers and little calves for quick recovery after birth, the area is well known as a calving center for Wildebeests, the best time to visit is between February and June. Ndutu plain extends to South plains of the Great Serengeti national park, of which this tour will give you a chance to visit.

In FEBRUARY and MARCH, Southern plains of Serengeti as a Home, accommodate enormous migratory herds during the green season (Dec to Apr). This area consists of the world famous Serengeti plains.
