Detailed Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Tanzania – Arusha.
- Welcome to Tanzania! Upon your arrival into Kilimanjaro or Arusha Airport and after clearing customs and immigration formalities, you will be met by our stuff/ your driver guide who will transfer you to the Hotel in Arusha for overnight at the hotel booked on bed and breakfast basis, BB.

Day 2: Arusha – Tarangire National Park.
- We will collect you from your hotel after breakfast in Arusha and following a 2 hour drive, you will arrive at the Tarangire National Park. In this region, Hemmingway often went on big game hunting safaris. After the formation of the national parks in 1970, they turned the seasonal marshes and the endless savannah that one sees today into, once again, profitable hunting grounds. Today however, cameras thankfully have replaced the elephant guns. The Tarangire National Park has the highest density of elephants in North Tanzania and you can view these animals all year round in which the herds often can reach an impressive number of 300 animals. The Tarangire River has water all year round and during the dry season, between July and October, many animals from the surrounding areas come to the river for drinking. If you visit the park during the dry season, you will witness an unforgettable natural wonder as you can observe wonderful creatures such as lions, giraffes, buffaloes, wildebeests and zebras as well as various types of antelopes and gazelles and with a little luck, you can also spot a python! This area is during the dry season also a haven for bird watchers with over 550 different species including the Masai Ostrich -the world largest bird. Around lunchtime, you will stop at a suitable picnic place before the afternoon is dedicated to more wildlife watching. Before sunset, you will be taken Sangaiwe Tented Lodge for overnight. Day 3: Tarangire Park Full day.
- Breakfast at your tented camp, this day is dedicated to game viewing in the Tarangire National Park for full day game drives. Packed lunch will be collected from the camp. You will spend the night at the same camp accommodation booked on full board basis, FB.

Day 4: Tarangire Park - to - Ngorongoro Crater Tour – Nainokanoka.
- In the morning at 0700hrs drive to Ngorongoro conservation, descend into crater floor with packed lunch for a day game drives, picnic lunch will be served in the Crater at the picnic site, Ngoitoktok swamp a hippo pool. After lunch at 1430hrs ascend the crater and drive out to Nainokanoka where you will have dinner and overnight at Nainokanoka Private Campsite. FB

Day 5: Nainokanoka – Olmot - Empakai:
Breakfast at your camp, commence the short hike through the forest and descend into the shallow grass of Olmoti crater with picnic lunches for a half day hiking. At 1200hrs back to meet your vehicle at Nainokanoka, then drive to Empakai Crater rim for dinner and overnight at Private campsite. FB

Day 6: Empakai – Naiyobi Village:
- Breakfast at the camp, trek down from the East rim to the crater floor. You can explore the crater and on a well-maintained path, you descend to Empakai Lake inside the crater. This alkaline soda lake is an important food source for flamingos. It is a pristine forested crater, take an easy walk to the lake where sometimes-huge flocks of flamingo birds can be seen. You will have lunch at Empakai crater rim, and after lunch, walk along the rim to Naiyobi village. Donkeys are one of the expedition crew which will carry the stuff along with you for dinner and overnight at Naiyobi village. Private Campsite. FB, Naiyobi is a small Maasai village located a few kilometers north of the Empakai crater and within view of mount Oldonyo Lengai. It is inside Ngorongoro conservation area, albeit just a few kilometers shy of the northern border.

Day 7: Naiyobi – Mount Oldoinyo Lengai base camp:
- Breakfast in the camp, then proceed with your walking, you will have lunch en-route. From Nayobi your walking will take you outside of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area through Acacia forest. The landscape becomes drier and warmer. A rewarding extra short hike to a viewpoint can offer views of the Ngorongoro Highlands, Gol mountains, Lake Natron, the Rift Valley and Oldoinyo Lengai all from one impressive location. Arrive to the base of the Mountain of God hence the name to the Maasai. Here you will meet the vehicle and transfer to the camp for dinner and overnight. FB.

Day 8: Ol-Lengai Camp - Lake Natron:
- Breakfast followed by drive along the rift valley to Lake Natron the Soda Lake where many water birds can be seen including Flamingo birds which breed and produce their own food on the lake, this is very interesting. You will have lunch, dinner and overnight Lake Natron Tented camp. FB


Day 9: Full day Lake Natron and Waterfall:
Breakfast followed by walking around the lake exploring the area, experience both the natural environment, people of the Maasai tribe and the residency game wild. Hot lunch at the camp, there after walk to the beautiful waterfalls just near the lake. It is a very nice place that you can even take bath without fear. You will have dinner and overnight Natron tented camp. FB

Day 10: Natron - Arusha:
-After breakfast, at 0800hrs depart with your packed lunch boxes for Arusha via Mto-wa-Mbu Village. End of Services by Gofan Safaris.
