Tarangire National Park
Tarangire National Park is located 120km South West of Arusha and covers 2600sq km. The Park is known as the park of Elephants and Baobabs, crossed by the Tarangire River from the North to South where the herds of plains migrate to its permanent waters during the dry season. Between July and November the park host herds thousands of and zebras coming from all over the Maasai.
Wildlife: Lion, leopard, Hyena, herds of Elephant tree climbing python, Oryx, hartebeest, zebra, Buffalo, Gazelles. Birds; Over 500 species of birds include red-billed quelled, kori bustard and ostrich. Baobab Trees are everywhere in the park.
Accommodation: Sopa lodge, Tarangire safari lodge, Tarangire Osupuko Lodge, Tarangire River Camp, Tarangire Tree Top Lodge, Olivers Tented Camp and camping sites.
