Itinerary

Day 1. Samburu

Breakfast at the hotel, and then depart Nairobi for Samburu National reserve crossing the Equator and driving through changing terrain to the rugged semi-desert regions in the northern Kenya. It is blessed with species rarely found elsewhere. The long drive takes us through rural farmlands to the remote Samburu County.

We arrive at our next full board accommodation, Samburu Simba Lodge, in time for lunch and some free time to settle in and unwind at the pool.

Day 2. Samburu.

Full day in Samburu with game drives. We take early and mid-morning game drives, have lunch at Samburu Simba Lodge and relax before our afternoon game drive.
You may come across lions, cheetahs and leopards, and likely to see elephants, hippos and buffalos. Samburu National Park is well known for having the special 5; Grevy’s zebra, gerenuk, reticulated giraffe, Beisa Oryx and the Somali ostrich.
The park is also rich in birdlife, hosting over 350 species. Samburu is one of the two areas where Elsa the lioness, of Born Free fame, was raised by George and Joy Adamson. Another highlight is encountering the traditional Samburu people, with their indigenous culture that still follows ancient practices. (Optional visits to Samburu villages).

Day 3. Aberdares National Park

Rise and shine in the peaceful Samburu Game Reserve after a good night's sleep surrounded by nature.
At 0630 Hrs, experience an early morning game drive. At 0830 Hrs. return for late breakfast and check out. Drive to the Aberdare National Park (220 km). Arrive in time for lunch at rhino watch lodge. Afternoon game viewing from your lodge.

Day 4. Lake Naivasha

Have breakfast and depart for Lake Naivasha in the Great Rift Valley. Lake Naivasha is one of the gems in a necklace of Rift Valley lakes, has a variety of bird life and hippo colonies. It has Hell’s Gate National Park, Crescent Island, etc. Hell’s Gate is one of the best rock climbing destinations in Kenya. Wildlife to see in this park includes zebras, buffalos, gazelles and hartebeests.

Day 5. Masai Mara

Breakfast at the lodge and depart for Masai Mara crossing the Loita plains which is traditional Masai land, so we should spot some of these proud, red-robed people in the area. Arriving at Simba Lodge in Mara where we enjoy lunch and relax or swim in the pool.
Next up, our first game drive in Masai Mara Game Reserve. In this dream safari landscape of undulating plains scattered with acacias, we look out for the diverse and abundant wildlife of Mara. We may come across herds of wildebeest, elephants, zebras and antelopes, along with prides of lions, coalitions of cheetahs, a crash of rhinos and lone leopards. Dinner and overnight at Simba Lodge.

Day 6. Masai Mara National Reserve

Breakfast at lodge and leave with picnic lunches for a full day game drive inside the Park. The lodge is located along the route of the Great Migration - the unparalleled wildlife spectacle that sees over a million wildebeest, gazelles, hyenas, zebras and other herbivores stampeding across the plains and crocodile infested rivers every year.
Extend your drive to the hippo point where schools of hippo submerge on the approach of vehicles only to surface seconds later as the crocodiles sunbathe on the river banks mouths agape. The predators of Masai Mara also come out in full force for the migration, which provides plenty of fair game. There is optional visit to the Masai villages for an insight to their culture. Day 7.Nairobi

Morning game drive to enjoy the beauty of the park, breakfast at lodge and depart for Nairobi arriving at around 1400 hours. Transfer to the airport for your flight out.
